Sravana Sumanth Koneru

Hello

Welcome! My name is Sravana Sumanth Koneru and I am thrilled to introduce myself as a Manufacturing Engineer at XP Power. Prior to this, I was a Mechanical Design Engineer at Siemens Energy. I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University and my passion for Product/Mechanical Design and Mechanical Engineering, in general, is undeniable.

I am a skilled individual with a broad skill set that covers all the essential aspects of Mechanical Engineering. As a Graduate Student Researcher in the Interacting Robotic Systems Laboratory at Stony Brook University, I had the opportunity to conduct research in Robotics and successfully defend my master's thesis. My love for learning is insatiable and I constantly strive to acquire new knowledge and skills.

I have gained extensive experience in design engineering, previously working as a Mechanical Design Engineer at SVS Engineering, India. I am highly skilled in various software such as AutoCAD (I even hold a certification as Autodesk Certified Professional in AUTOCAD), Solidworks, PTC Creo, NX CAD, and FEA packages like ABAQUS. Additionally, I am a confident coder, able to write codes in MATLAB, C, and C++.

I am always looking for opportunities to collaborate and learn. I am happy to share my knowledge and experience, and I am always open to new ideas and perspectives. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or if you would like to work together.

  • Areas of interests - Mechanical Design, Robotics, Manufacturing, Project Management.
  • Personal Interests - Movie Buff! (I can talk about movies for hours), Photography, Drawings, Meeting and Interacting with new people, Exploring new places (Road Trips are <3).

Also check out my new photography website, It's still under construction and I will *Try to* update it from time to time.

Experience

XP Power, Gloucester, MA

May 2023 - Present
Manufacturing Engineer
  • Part of a team reporting directly to the Director of Global Manufacturing put together to Plan, Validate, Scale-up, and sustain a manufacturing plant in China where we perform electro-mechanical assembly operations, troubleshooting, and repair to aid in the development of new fixtures, processes, and procedures for NPI.
  • Responsible for creating experiments, designing test fixtures and prototypes to validate various fabricated components while simultaneously validating production processes and verifying the execution of those processes.
  • Utilize and enhance data systems to monitor and improve first-pass yield using structured problem-solving to identify the root cause of failures and consistent process complications.

Siemens Energy - Dresser Rand (Quest Global), NY

August 2022 - Present
Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Successfully created detailed models and Manufacturing drawings of various D-R compressor components using Siemens NX integrated with Teamcenter, and SAP with successful on time release of these in the workflow.
  • Utilized Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to create engineering drawings, while adhering to various international codes and standards, including Siemens-Energy internal standards. Leveraged knowledge of these standards to design compressor components in detail to produce customer facing drawings for compressor parts.

August 2021 - August 2022
Mechanical Project Engineer
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively plan and coordinate projects for the Siemens Energy TCP after-markets Project Management team by cross-functional collaboration, ensuring timely flow of materials while monitoring impacts on overall project schedule. Provided mentorship and guidance to newer team members to foster their professional development.
  • Created, reviewed and updated manufacturing instructions and spec sheets as part of the Siemens Energy plant transition team, where I played a key role in the knowledge transfer of manufacturing processes for various Turbo Compressor components. Also, reviewed and updated the design and manufacturing process specifications.
  • Also implemented the Project Management techniques like Agile Scrum and Kanban using Leankit for improved Productivity.

Interacting Robotic Systems Laboratory, Stony Brook University

April 2020 - August 2021
Graduate Student Researcher
  • Successfully developed and defended a thesis on a novel method for impedance control under uncertain environment properties for a serial chain robot manipulator, utilizing Screw Linear Interpolation (ScLERP) to ensure the required end effector trajectory.
  • Conducted specialized experiments in MATLAB simulations to validate the effectiveness of the defended thesis on a 7-degree-of-freedom (DOF) robot (Baxter Arm), demonstrating its ability to perform various tasks with different types of constraints with various orientation parameterizations.

SVS Engineering, India

June 2017 - Dec 2018
Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Developed models for vacuum tray dryers (VTD) and atmospheric tray dryers (ATD) used in pharmaceutical industries using Solidworks.
  • Used Solid modelling, sheet metal, weldments, surfacing features and Assemblies in Solidworks and other CAD platforms.
  • Gained hands on experience working with CNC machines and laser cutting machines.
  • Provided research and development solutions to customers looking for improvement. Increased the output by an average of 20% and reduced customer complaints by 50%.

National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, India

December 2015
Mechanical Engineering Intern

  • Worked as a part of a project team, which made a profound study on functioning, performance and maintenance of boilers (pressure parts and Rotating machines).
  • Working and effciency of the boiler at various conditional parameters and the maintenance of various components of the power plant (Boiler, Turbine and o sets) are also studied.
